The Curse of Sins - ARC Review

Book Review:   The Curse of Sins by  Kate Dramis Release Date: June 25, 2024  Genre: Romantasy Age Range: Adult Series: The Curse of Saints Proceeded by:  The Curse of Saints Goodreads  Avg. Rating: 4.24 stars I was so excited to get book two in the series. Thank you so much to Netgalley and Dreamscape Media for a copy to review. Also getting approved for the audio ARC seemed perfect as the best way to fit it into my TBR. The problem with ARCs is that we have to wait longer than normal to get to the next, final in this case, installment though. Also, I have gone back and read my review of the first book and laughed now that I’m through with this one. For world-building, I think I'm just going to have to get used to romantasy not having as much. The second installment of the series did give us a bit more background into the religion. We get to follow along with Aya as she researches the documents the church has about Evie. This is how Aya comes to learn and put the information abo

Disquiet Gods by Christopher Ruocchio

Book Review: Disquiet Gods by Christopher Ruocchio Release Date: April 2, 2024  Genre: Sci-Fi Age Range: Adult Series: Sun Eater Proceeded by:     Ashes of Man Goodreads  Avg. Rating: 4.64 stars This series has always had amazing world-building. For most of the books, it gives them the Epic Sci-Fantasy feel. In this one, while yes there was more delved into it is also questionable how to go about describing it. I have seen others talking about this book feeling more like space opera than Sci-Fantasy. While I wouldn't go that far there is a hard aspect to talk about what we are given as it is so many levels. This is also a hard one to rate as it doesn't quite feel like a 5-star but also doesn't feel like a 4.5-star. Wonderful first thoughts section for you. 🤭 We dive deep into the epic-scale worldbuilding and lore of this universe in this story. Several things hinted at in The Quiet are directly addressed in this novel. Even though I was hoping it wouldn't do personal

Ashes of Man by Christopher Ruocchio - Book Review

Book Review: Ashes of Man by Christopher Ruocchio Release Date: December 13, 2022  Genre: Sci-Fi Age Range: Adult Series: Sun Eater Proceeded by:     Kingdoms of Death Goodreads  Avg. Rating: 4.54 stars In some regards, I think it was a wise decision to separate the story into two books. That would have just been so much devastation in one book of the series. I feel like the world-building was less in this one, but it is the fifth in the series that makes sense. The Emperor provided a few revelations. Proving Valka's statement in the first book that the Chantry must know and try to suppress the information. Really the Emperor plainly said they use the Chantry to control what people find out. It is questionable that there is a branch devoted to discovery and exploration apparently, why wasn't Hadrian squirreled away there? It would have been the perfect spot to put him out of the public eye to lessen his fame. In this book, we travel across the galaxy to several planets with t
